Google has been making a name for itself with its data science jobs program, and now it’s adding an art-based version to the mix.
According to Google’s job listing, the company is “in the process of developing a digital arts program to help local artists create digital works.”
The Calgary Arts Council has long offered grants for local artists to produce digital art, and Google’s application describes the program as a “digital arts program designed to give local artists a platform to engage with the public and share their work.”
Google has also created a program to provide artists with the resources and training they need to create digital art.
In 2015, Google announced the launch of a partnership with the Calgary Art Centre, which aims to “provide the community with digital art resources and help local artisans and artists to reach new audiences and create innovative works of art.”
Google’s job listings also highlight other art and design programs in Calgary, including the Calgary Contemporary Arts Centre, the Arts and Culture Centre and the Calgary Cultural Alliance.
The latter, which launched in 2017, offers classes in both traditional and digital art and digital media.
