Engadgets article The world’s biggest and fastest aircraft carrier, the Queen Elizabeth, is currently on her maiden voyage from Southampton to Portsmouth, and the first photo of the iconic vessel in its current configuration is here.
The photo is by renowned photographer and archivist David Smith, who was part of a team that photographed the carrier from the deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth and her sister ship, the HMS Prince of Wales.
The photos show the majestic skyline of the capital and beyond, including the towers of St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London, which are both covered in massive cat statues.
The Queen Elizabeth is one of the world’s largest warships, weighing almost 5,000 tonnes and is currently in service in the Mediterranean Sea.
The photographs are taken from the ship’s deck, where the carrier’s massive aircraft carrier wings hang from a tower.
The aircraft carrier is a two-decked, vertical ship that can carry more than 1,500 people.
It is not the first time Smith has captured images of London skyline.
He has taken more than 200 photos of London from the top of the Shard to the city’s streets.
In 2009, Smith captured the London skyline from the Shard, as well as the Tower Bridge, London’s iconic landmark.
